Disponibilidad de Vivienda

Right now our house is spotless - or it was an hour ago. Social Services came to check us out, so we spent yesterday getting the place scrubbed and clean.

To obtain Jack’s Spanish residence card we have to have a document that says we have suitable housing for him. I had to submit a bunch of papers about his schooling, his vaccinations, our income, insurance and rental agreement. Then we arranged a home visit. Had we done this when we first got here I don’t think this would have been necessary. He explained that the process is really for those who come alone to work here, then seek permission to bring their families over too.

I assume we passed. The man came, asked how long we’d been in Spain, asked how many bedrooms we have and then took a 10 second look at each. Considering that most people live in apartment buildings with no yards, I would think our spacious house would win his approval.

Robyn and the girls are now shopping. No sense in getting dressed up for nothing, right?
