The noise has been almost unbearable. If I can't hear it I can still feel the low vibrations. It is persistent and annoying.Crews are installing new streetlights all through our neighborhood, but first they have to dig the trenches for the electric cables. The concrete saw they start with is bad enough, but then comes the jackhammer. It makes my teeth rattle.
We need your "jackhammer prayers". I've realized again (and again) that people come to Christ only because the Holy Spirit is at work in them, and not because of my efforts, the right words or strategic cleverness. I also know that others are much stronger in prayer than I am. We need you to pray - persistently.
Jackhammer prayer requests
·We are shooting a short drama in two weeks. Pray for good preparations and that the actresses can communicate well. Pray also that we can be efficient and effective in our editing so these videos can be used soon to communicate the need for faith in Christ.

·A summer intern is designing a booklet on inductive Bible study. Pray that the design and content come together to be powerful and effective.

·Pray for the people we come in contact with in our neighborhood. Keep praying for our neighbors Jose and Rocio, Maria at the bread store, and Jose the barber (see praise below).

·Pray that our videos will be used effectively to draw people to faith in Christ.

·School is finally out. Pray for Robyn as she has the kids at home all day.

·We are expecting another child! Robyn is her 10th week. Pray for her health and for that of the baby.

Praises
·At my last haircut, Jose the barber asked me if I was still reading the Bible! We then discussed some passages we had each read. I had decided I wouldn't mention anything spiritual this time, but he brought it up. That has to be God at work in him. He still thinks Jesus was only human, though perfect. Pray that the Word will really penetrate his mind.

·God provided actresses for our short drama on family relationships, as well as others we needed for another project.

·We are expecting another child! (This is worth mentioning twice.)

God continues to provide for our needs. Thank you for your "jackhammer prayers".

In Christ,

P.S. Just to be accurate, the tool pictured above is called a breaker, but jackhammer seemed a better word.

Yesterday at our staff prayer time we could hardly hear each other. Then a story from the Bible came to mind - the one about the unjust judge and the persistent widow. Was she just as persistent and annoying as an industrial-sized jackhammer? Wasn't that the point of the teaching? Maybe our prayers should be just as persistent and "annoying"?

I've been a bit discouraged recently, not seeing the results I would like to see through my work and in our friendships, so this lesson in prayer comes at a good time.
